First off, I read a very interesting article concerning my radiohead boys. Check it out. It's about how the band designed their newest album around the Binary Code and the Golden Ratio>>

Under the Influence

As I create this entire website for class, I cannot help but incorporate THE band that has influenced me more than any other music group. We have talked a great deal about the interpellation from the music around us in a Street setting, and I must create a full page to express my thoughts on my favorite band, radiohead, and the many moods and atmospheres they create with their songs. I have already used them in an assignment on lyrics, and have written a review of their newest album.

Now I only wish to give them the space they deserve in my many discourse pages.

radiohead Wabi-Sabi

Any true fan of music has the band or song that really gets to them. Well, I have to say that the entire radiohead collection gets to me. Their albums are adventures and take you away to another place (Kid A on headphones or acid), and their progression into In Rainbows can listened to through their albums. Their harmony between Thom Yorke's haunting voice and the rest of the band create this mood or atmosphere with many of their songs. Unlike other contemporaries, radiohead produces albums that share a similar atmosphere. Take Amnesiac for example.

Radiohead also has a sort of "cult" following for various reasons. One being the band (especially frontman Thom Yorke) loves to be as cryptic as possible, with their lyrics and their communication to the media. You will never find "Idioteque" on an Ipod commercial (although we know that would be amazing). For that matter, you will probably never even see radiohead on TV, especially now that music television is now reality television. Thanks, MTV!

All About The Music

As mentioned above, there is no dispute on why radiohead produces music. The band creates music as a way of connecting with the world. Unlike every other damn pop music phenomenon, radiohead has never chosen to market themselves to the world. They sell their records, and you can either like them or not, but they have never sold the integrity of their music for fame or fortune. The music speaks louder than anything a marketing gimmick could do. So I salute you, radiohead, for what you've done and how you've helped me through some rough spots.

"I'm walking out in a force ten gale.

birds thrown around, bullets for hail.

the roof is pulling off by its fingernails.

your voice is rapping on my window sill

yesterday's headlines blown by the wind.

yesterday's people end up scatterbrain.

then any fool can easy pick a hole. (I only wish I could fall in)

a moving target in a firing range.

somewhere I'm not

scatterbrain.

somewhere I'm not

scatterbrain.

lightning fuse

powercut.

scatterbrain"
